1) The minimum entry qualifications for a Workshop Manager are :
(i) An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence with airframe
and powerplant ratings, avionics ratings, or Aircraft Repair Specialist
with 3 years experience working in the workshop ; and
(ii) 1 year supervisory workshop experience.

(2) The Workshop Manager shall be responsible for :
(i) Ensuring that all work on aircraft components is performed to
required standards ; and
(ii) Any corrective action resulting from quality compliance monitoring.

Ensuring that maintenance activities performed on aircraft component/ equipment is carried out in
accordance with the relevant approved maintenance instructions and within the scope of work
specified in the capability list of the AMO.
Ensuring cooperation with Quality Assurance Auditors/ Inspectors during audits or
investigations of incident/ accident.
Ensuring timely corrective actions on all non-conformity findings resulting from audits in the unit
within his responsibility.
Ensuring that all personnel in the area of responsibility receive appropriate initial and continuation
training, to ensure optimal technical and procedural knowledge, as required.
That there are sufficient resources available to ensure that all avionic maintenance activities are
carried out in accordance with the procedures specified in chapter 2 of this MPM.
Ensuring timely calibration of all avionic test equipment and tools as indicated on the
organization’s inventory.

Supervision and control the availability of all personnel, material, equipment and tools which are
required to ensure optimal technical and procedural knowledge.
Ensuring that all applicable maintenance data is readily available for use when required by
maintenance personnel.
Coordination of workflow with other departments, including Quality in view of turn around times.
Establishment of work and shift plans, including overtime and economic compensation.
Ensuring correct labelling of parts and components removed from aircraft.
Maintenance and supervision completeness and serviceable condition of shop tools and
equipment.
Ensuring signing of work documents for proper performance, filling out snag-sheets, both to be
considered proof of continued airworthiness to be included as part of the aircraft technical
records.
Ensuring return to service of avionics components (electrical and instruments).
Ensuring that the parts/materials used in the maintenance of aircraft and aircraft equipment
conform to the manufacturer’s specifications and they are accompanied with the appropriate
documentation as specified in chapter 3 of this MPM.
That avionics test and calibration equipment is registered and periodically tested/calibrated in
accordance with the procedures specified in chapter 3 of this MPM.
Ensuring the implementation of service bulletins/letters/instructions issued by manufacturer, Ads
and Advisory Circulars issued by the competent authority.
Ensuring that the Accountable Manager will be advised about changes in the scope of work.
Coordinating with the Maintenance Manager concerning the planning of scheduled/unscheduled
maintenance of aircraft systems, equipment and/or parts.
Maintain the manufacturers publications held in the Avionic Workshop, ensuring that all
documentation is controlled as specified in chapter 3 of this MPM.
Provide the Maintenance Planning Department with information regarding labour hours, material
usage and other relevant information, as required.
Assisting in the development and improvement of maintenance procedures.
Maintaining the required standard of Health, Safety and environmental protection within the
department as specified in the organization’s Safety Management System procedures.
Technical policies and management objectives are translated into actual activities.
These activities are sufficient and fully support the effective execution of maintenance.
Indications for required changes/adaptations to, or improvement of, technical policies are exposed
and submitted to management resulting in a follow up as appropriate.
In addition, the Workshop manager shall consult the Safety and Quality department for all matters
relating to safety and quality in order to achieve the highest possible quality level against the
optimum cost.
The Workshop manager is authorized to take action, as necessary, to ensure the efficient running of
the workshops after approval of the Accountable Manager and in accordance with the procedures
specified in this MPM.
