Job Summary:

We are seeking a Python Developer with a strong background in data and analytics to join our rapidly expanding team. This individual is responsible for data services including ETL pipeline implementation, data stewardship and and data quality automation. The ideal candidate has deep Python and SQL experience and seeks to create highly performant queries that result in robust data warehouse tables that drive business insight. This role reports initially to the Senior Director of Technology and works closely with business teams to understand and replace existing ad-hoc data access and analysis. Above all other factors, the successful candidate is smart, driven, and wants to be part of a culture of innovation and creativity.

Responsibilities:

- Builds partnerships with business users, analysts, and data scientists to understand data, reporting, and analytic requirements.

- Writes highly performant SQL queries and tunes existing queries to continually improve performance.

- Designs and builds data warehouses that serve as the foundation for global BI needs.

- Creates/maintains automated ETL pipelines.

- Works closely with DBAs to become a source-data-expert and maintain optimal DB performance.

- Works closely with developers to create and improve data flows between internal/external systems and the data warehouse.

- Clearly documents and communicates changes to Data Warehouse environment.

- Educates business analysts on data access best practices.

- Creates optimized views and data marts to address specific business use cases.

- Helps explore and evaluate new technologies.

Requirements:

- A bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

- 5+ years total development experience

- 3+ years Python Development, including some experience with Python 3 preferably with business intelligence, data mining experience supporting a business function

- 3+ years of experience with Python web frameworks such as Flask or Django

- Experience developing ETL processes using Python, PostgreSQL, SqlAlchemy

- Experience developing RESTful web services

- Conceptual, logical and physical model design

- Proven analytical and problem solving skills

- Experience developing, maintaining, and administering SQL databases (especially PostgreSQL).

- A curious, self-motivated, resourceful, critical-thinker

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Proficient understanding of modern development tools and processes, including GitHub, Jenkins, pull request workflows, unit testing, and continuous integration

Nice To Have:

- Lucene (Solr/ElasticSearch) and/or related database and persistence technologies

- Understanding of networking, replication principles, and multi-datacenter operations

- AWS exposure

- Confortable with Unix/Linux and Windows

- Bonus points for experience with Amazon Web Services, Ansible, and Vagrant

- Experience with scripting languages other than Python a strong plus
