Online Volunteer Tutor- Maths & English

We are looking for people to volunteer as either GCSE Maths or English tutors to work with ambitious young people from disadvantaged backgrounds from one of our partner secondary schools across the U.K  Our programmes start running towards the beginning of each school term and you’ll be able to pick a time that is right for you. Training and specialist resources will also be provided.

The programme is entirely free-of-cost to the school with all costs being covered through grants, local business sponsorships and donations. Our ultimate vision is to empower schools and give every pupil access to one-to-one support and we will be working to make this dream a reality over the coming year.

Teaching Online:

Our tutors find online tutoring enjoyable, impactful and convenient for the following reasons:

• Tutors don’t need to travel and can teach students in a familiar environment.

• Lessons are recorded, allowing quick review of previous sessions and reduce the need for repeated lessons.

• The level of student engagement is significantly improved through the interactive virtual whiteboard - allowing tutors to share an array of media content (e.g PDFs, Youtube videos etc).

About You:

As a volunteer tutor, you’ll need:

• A strong passion to make a difference to some of the most disadvantaged students in the UK.

• You need to be a fluent English speaker.

• Achieved an A or B at A Level (or equivalent) in the subject, or similar subject, you are wishing to tutor.

• Provide online one-to-one tutoring support for 1 hour a week. (or opt for more).

After completion of this volunteer tutoring assignment you will have:

- started the journey to master your leadership skills

- gained valuable experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds

- contributed to the academic development of students who need the most support

- organisational and syllabus development skills according to the student’s individual needs

- gained experience in the EdTech field and learned how to apply online technology in teaching

The number of volunteers accepted on the programme is limited and all applications will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis.
