Job Description

Start Date: July 2016

Job Purpose: The Library Assistant provides assistance to faculty and students to access the resources as per their needs and also assists in maintaining the software and available resources.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Processing new materials including books, audiovisual materials, etc.
  • Registering and updating students records through the library system
  • Lending and collecting books, periodicals, and other library materials at circulation desks.
  • Shelving books, periodicals, audiovisuals, etc. in a designated storage areas.
  • Locating library materials for students including books, periodicals, audiovisuals, etc.
  • Guiding patrons on how to use library services and resources.
  • Responding to patrons’ routine inquiries, and refer them in need of professional assistance to librarians.

Job specification:

·    Proficient in MS Office Application and familiar with OPAC .
·    Must have at least 2 years’ relevant experience in library cataloging / classification.
