Skill & Competence:
-Understanding the business & functional Requirements and technical documentation
-Raising questions / ambiguities related to requirements
-Escalating issues / risks to next level
-Maintaining good relations with project team and peers
-Using and sharing best practices across technical team
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
-Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
-Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
-Troubleshoot Open Source (Big Data) Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
-Configure Big data Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms
-Choose whether to use clustering, log shipping, mirroring, Windows Azure, or other technologies
-Install and configure Big Data
-Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors
-When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware -purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
-Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
-Document the company’s database environment
-Enrolling users and maintaining system security
-Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement
-Maintaining archived data
-Generating various reports by querying from database as per need
Below skills will add advantage:
-Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodology in particular is a plus
-Good understanding of project management tools (Knowledge of TFS, MSTM is plus)
