Job Description
1. Job Purpose
The purpose of the Data Center Administrator’s job is to manage the Data Center includes a variety of Physical & Virtualized servers, on Windows, VMWare, HyperV, Citrix, Progress and SAP HANA. Storage (SAN/ NAS) Architecture & SAN Switches, different type of storage systems and server backup management.
2. Principal Accountabilities
Plan for capacity, performance and service availability of all servers and storage in line with business needs. Work with application/project teams and 3rd party partners to plan, design and implement new IT infrastructure, to meet existing and growing needs of the business.
Monitor and take action if there are issues. Work with vendor in resolving issues, tracking progress to completion.
Complete day to day operations and administration tasks of virtualized (VMWare VSphere / Citrix Xenserver and Microsoft Hyper V Server 2012 & SUN Virtualization (Domain or Containers) and physical server infrastructure on intel & Sparc , including provisioning of development, testing and production environments to application teams as needed.
Monitor and action data center environmental factors like CCU, UPS, Access control & CCTV.
Ensure adequate housekeeping of the data center environment.
Strong level 3 Expertise on: HyperV (System Center SCOM/ SCVM/ SCDPM), VMWare (SRM, VSphere, VCenter, VSCOM), Citrix (Presentation XEN APP, VDI & XEN GW), SAN SW (Brocade & Nexus)
Manage the Groups storage resources including the NetApp, Sun Storage and Hitachi Ent devices throughout their lifecycles.
Ensure that servers and services are appropriately updated and patched, ensuring system security and reliability. Initiate and manage upgrades and procurement of replacement equipment as required
Storage Management LUN assigning, tiring for new server and maintain HA using SAN
Manage the Group server backup solutions, currently NetBackup/ backup Exec & Veeam
Manage DNS and DHCP services across Data Center and IP management.
Manage Active Directory 2008 R2 domain services, defining Group Policies
Manage Exchange 2010 email system. HA management with Local DAG and Remote DR DAG replication and Manage Cross site functionalities of Exchange 2010 Systems
Capable of invoking and revoking Disaster recovery of Microsoft Exchange 2010 email systems.
Manage Virtual Desktop Interface for Windows clients using Citrix XEN desktop deployment.
Maintain high standards in terms of written materials/documentation, including system level documentation, infrastructure/incident reports and monitoring anomalies.
Provide technical leadership to computer support technicians and network technicians.
Maintain strict access control and security for all Networks which are delegated inside Local Area Network
Manage the Email network of the remote users with secure mode of system access
Ensure distribute Applications access on the Networks
To upgrade and new installations of Equipment (Servers, Storage)
Administer Unix / Solarix/ HP Unix / Windows Server in the delegated zone and assist enterprise Team for remote support.
Analyze and determine appropriate layout of all equipment in data center with help of balancing and cooling.
Monitor and supervise all data center solutions.
Assist various departments in installations and removal of data center hardware as per requirement.
Document all power and space schematics and ensure accuracy in same.
Perform installation and ensure effective layout of all tools in cabling industry as per industry practices.
Monitor all data center assets for tracking information.
Coordinate with vendors and resource engineers and ensure effective completion of all installation hardware at various data centers.
Oversaw capacity planning, perform power audits and ensure appropriate supply of power to all equipment.
Maintain access of data to data center and ensure appropriate filling of all column in access system.
Manage all malfunctioning tape equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment to reduce outages.
Monitor all issues and escalate issue to appropriate department to ensure effective resolution.
Supervise all equipment such as alarm system and firefighting tools.
Ensure compliance schedule for everyday operations.
Supervise all batch jobs as per requirement.
Maintain standards of service levels at all times, ensure response with timeframe and manage all available services.
Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by his/her direct manager
3. Health & Safety Responsibilities
Complies with established health and safety guidelines and procedures and ensures the health, safety and welfare of self and others
Identifies and reports to management any Health, Safety or Environmental risks and makes suggestions to address these risks and co-operate with his/her supervisor’s instructions.
4. Communications and Working Relationships
24/7 availability on callout for emergency situations
Interacts with the Infrastructure Unit Head to analyze user support statistics and other data, and recommends appropriate measures
Interacts with external IT suppliers relevant for IT infrastructure (ISP’s, hardware and software suppliers for IT networking, servers, etc.)
Communicates well with users, other computer specialists, and managers throughout the organization
Interacts and manages direct reports and operational issues on a daily basis
Qualifications
5. Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, engineering or a related discipline with an information technology focus.
Bachelor's in computer science or related field
Certified Microsoft MCITP, (Server Virtualization, Virtualization Administrator)
Storage Cert NCSA or Equaling
VMware (VCP)
ITIL V3 Foundation Certification is desirable
Minimum 8 years of IT infrastructure experience, of which minimum 5years should be as related to IT Server, Storage administration and Data Center Operations Experienced with:
Windows Servers and Databases
Active Directory
Unix - Sun Solaris Administrator
Citrix or/and Xenapps
Network system (Lync, System Center & RADIUS).
Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, operating systems, data base administration and infrastructure applications
Working with 3rd party vendors
Ability to remain alert while performing routine tasks
English language fluency required– Arabic language fluency is a plus
6. Physical Requirements of the Job - If Applicable
The job of the Data Center Administrator may require local travel
Limited occasional work outside of working hours may be required during maintenance, new deployment, emergences, etc.
Must be willing to accept being re-assigned to the company’s other locations (Other business units), whether temporarily or permanently
